At the end of the year, different holidays come one after another. After having been busy for a whole year, everyone wants to have a good rest, so there will be a lot of gatherings and dinner parties among friends. At the dinner party, people always drink too much alcohol, which may easily harm the body. Then what kinds of drinks should we choose at the dinner party, so as to protect our health? The following section will recommend five healthy drinks for everyone.
First, yoghurt Yoghurt contains a large number of active lactic acid bacteria, which can regulate the flora balance in the intestinal tract. If you have to drink alcohol at the party, it is best to drink a glass of yogurt first, which can play a good buffering function in the stomach. What’s more, yoghurt has a certain feeling of fullness, so it can make you eat less oil and fatty food after drinking.
Second, fruit juice Fruit juice contains a large number of vitamins, minerals, and a certain amount of biologically active substances and dietary fiber, so it can make up for the lack of nutrition when you drink alcohol. It is best to drink freshly squeezed juice, which has the best nutrition. If the juice has been placed for a long time, it is easy to be oxidized.
Third, tomato juice Tomato juice contains a lot of nutrients, such as vitamin C, minerals, lycopene, and so on. Especially lycopene, it has the most prominent health benefits on human body, and has strong antioxidant activity. What’s more, lycopene has a good effect of clearing away the free radicals in the body, which is far better than that of other carotenoids and vitamin E. As a result, it is also known as “plant gold”.
Fourth, soybean milk Soybean milk contains various kinds of nutrients, including unsaturated fatty acids. It is low in saturated fatty acids and contains no cholesterol. What’s more, soybean milk also contains a small amount of soluble dietary fiber, which can help to promote the peristalsis of the gastrointestinal tract and prevent constipation. Sugar-free or low-sugar soybean milk has much better effect.
Fifth, tea The tea polyphenol and caffeine contained in tea have the effect of preventing cancer, cardiovascular diseases and so on. Green tea, Oolong tea, Pu’er tea, black tea, and scented tea are all good choices. During the winter, it is best not to drink the tea which has become cold, because it is easy to cause diarrhea, which is very bad for the health of the body.

Usually I use a lot of garlic when cooking, because I love the taste of garlic. Fortunately my husband likes too. However, many people do not like garlic, specially because of its intensive smell. It already happened that some colleagues of my husband told him that he had garlic breath (uppss!). Since then, I have to pay attention when I cook during the week to not exaggerate.
I also love garlic because it goes well with so many things like chicken, seafood, meat, etc. If you are a garlic fan like me, you will love this garlic chicken recipe. It combines chicken breasts with lots of garlic and traditional Asian seasonings like gingerroot and soy sauce. It is served with rice, making a great meal.
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 1 lb.)
1 egg white
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon sherry (or dry white wine)
4 green onions
1 teaspoon minced gingerroot
3 teaspoons minced fresh garlic (about 6 medium cloves)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Hot cooked rice
1 teaspoon crushed chili paste (sambal oelek) or more to taste
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons sherry (or dry white wine)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Place chicken breasts in freezer for 1 to 2 hours or until very firm but not frozen solid. Slice crosswise into thin shreds. In small bowl, lightly beat egg white, then mix in cornstarch and sherry (or wine), stirring until cornstarch is dissolved. Add chicken and mix well to coat all pieces. Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, slice green onions on the diagonal into very thin slices. Mince gingerroot and garlic. Combine all sauce ingredients, mixing well.
Heat wok or frying pan, add oil, and stir-fry chicken until no longer pink. Remove chicken with a slotted spoon. Add onions, ginger and garlic to wok and stir-fry about 30 seconds, until ginger and garlic are fragrant but not brown. Return chicken to wok, re-stir sauce ingredients and add to wok. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is well combined, hot and
bubbly and thickens slightly. Turn off heat and splash with about 1 teaspoon of dark sesame oil. Serve over rice.
If you’ve decided to go backpacking in Europe alone, you’re probably a little nervous or curious about how you are going to meet other travelers. Backpacking in Europe alone can be a liberating and exciting experience but it can also get lonely if you don’t try to put yourself out there a little bit. When planning your backpacking Europe itinerary, make sure you spend a decent amount of time in each city you visit so you have time to take organized tours and hang out in the hostels you stay in so you can get to know other travelers.
Hostels: The Lone Traveler’s Lifeline
The great thing about backpacking Europe alone is that there are many other travelers doing the same thing and it is easy to meet them at the hostels you stay in. Backpacker’s hostels are a great way to meet other people because there are communal rooms, kitchens, and dorms so you are constantly in contact with other travelers. On the other hand, staying in hotels as a lone traveler can make for a lonely trip because you will always be cooped up in your room alone when you are done with the day’s activities. Staying in a hostel is fun because you can cook with your hostel mates and chat with them in the communal area or dorm.
When backpacking Europe alone, you can meet other travelers by taking part in the tours organized at the hostel. Many hostels in Europe organize free walking tours of the city. These tours are a great chance for you to have fun and interact with the hostel staff and guests. You can also sign up for organized tours arranged by travel agencies in order to meet fellow travelers. In addition, hostels often organize social events such as pub crawls and BBQs. Don’t be afraid to join in!
Backpacking in Europe alone may seem intimidating initially but it really isn’t once you get used to starting conversations with fellow hostel guests. Remember that a lot of the people staying at the hostel are probably in the same boat and feeling just as nervous as you are. The only way you are going to start meeting people and having a memorable trip is by chatting up your fellow hostel-goers.
Make no mistake about it. Backpacking in Europe alone can be just as fun as backpacking with your friends. You’ll meet plenty of people on the road as long as you get up the guts to make conversation with the people you meet along the way. Don’t forget to participate in organized activities. Buying a bottle of wine and starting a little party of your own is another great way to get to know your hostel mates. The moral of this story is: be open to meeting new people and they will be open to meeting you!
Boiling water without burning it may seem like a simple process but in reality there are some individuals who simply do not know their way around the kitchen. They cannot tell you the difference between saut and broil. Culinary students who are interested in the top culinary schools must have some background in the kitchen if they hope to become an executive chef one day.
They have to know the basics if they want that ‘A’ on their souffle. It can be a demanding career and one that is tough on the body, mind and ego but for those who have the determination the pay off is extraordinary.
Top culinary schools are not everywhere. There are many located throughout the United States that offer a comprehensive cooking degree upon completion, yet there are some that do not and so you must go online. The only online school that may be applicable, should you want to run the front end of a restaurant, is The University of Phoenix with their Hospitality and Business Management program. However, this program will only teach you how to run the front of a restaurant, as it will not include any instruction in the culinary arts. Many cooking colleges offer a special type of arts program that is world renowned. At the California School of Culinary Arts Pasadena, you can partake in the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts program, about which most people are most familiar.
It is a great curriculum that offers three distinct programs, which you can either take separately or all together. They offer the culinary arts program, a baking program and a program that focuses on Hospitality and Restaurant Management.
If you are not thinking about obtaining a certificate or degree and simply want to further your skills and knowledge in the kitchen, then you may want to think about specialized classes in one area of culinary delight. You could take a Thai cooking school class or even an Italian cooking school class to teach you how to make those wonderful dishes you order at restaurants.
Choosing from among the top culinary schools can be difficult for students. Not everyone is cut out to be a chef. Some people never aspire to learn how to make the dishes served in five star restaurants. But for those who persevere and learn the tricks of the trade it can be a rewarding career filled with excitement and advancement. It is a dream of a lifetime for those individuals.
